9/22/09 Episode

~The contestants were Marlene Allen, Jon Korn, and Gary Bechtold, who was the returning three day winner with $42,001.
~The first daily double was found by Jon. He bet $1,500. The question was: The oldest and longest member on the Supreme Court who joined in 1975 was?. The answer was John Paul Stevens. He got it right.
~At the end of the first round Gary had $3,000, Jon had $9,300, and Marlene had $1,400.
~Marlene got the second daily double. She wagered $1,000. The question was: Animal title winner author of Dog Soldier and this equine novel. The answer was All the Pretty Horses. She got it right.
~ Marlene also found the third daily double. She bet $1,800. The question was: What was the name of the multi headed sea serpent and title of master work. She answered incorrectly. The correct answer was Lernaean.
~Some interesting facts from this episode are that Jewish penicillin is chicken soup, the largest dairy industry in New England is Vermont, and that a bird known for singing is a thrush.
~The topic of Final Jeopardy was word history. The question was: Once a type of Roman Area in 18th century, this six letter word gained correct meaning as a type of entertainment. Marlene answered folk and wagered $6,000. She was wrong and ended up with $600. Gary answered theater and wagered $2,000. He was wrong and ended up with $9,800. Jon answered circus and bet $4,302. He was right and won with $25,602.
